Antique Edwardian Period Top Quality Sterling Silver Repousse Worked Box in the Cylindrical Drum style, featuring a closed gallery wrap of floral repousse work to the body the box is finished with a removable, squat mushroom type lid which is similarly repousse worked with an very Art Nouveau Floral themed closed gallery around a central set duo of what appear to be a Cherub kissing a lady or Goddess.
Overall in very good condition, small bruise to the lid on one side at the edge (please see photograph no 8) and a small knock to the underside of the base to the edge in one place, not outwardly noticeable, other than that the item is in original condition more or less and stands, with lid in place 10 cm tall with a base diameter of 7.4 cm or 4 inches by 3 inches.
The Box no doubt originally saw use at a Dressing table setting but will serve for a variety of uses as desired.
The Box is impressed with markings indicating Birmingham assay office circa 1904 with the makers mark for William Neale & Son of Warstone Lane, Birmingham.
