Antique Turn of the 19th Century Rare Example of an Enamel Decorated Patch Box after Bilston's featuring a hand painted lid bearing the image of a Single Chimney Paddle Steamer, representing the Town of Chepstow, on the River Wye, the lid features the legend "A Present From Chepstow" this being an early Tourist Collectible as well as a very Giftable piece.
Manufactured in Brass with a flute patterned body in Turquoise Enamel the patch box is in good condition for old age, enamel paint shows light wear including hairlines as to be expected but there are no dings or repairs to the box and the hand painted pictorial and legend to the lid still retain bright colours.
The Box when closed shut measures 4 cm x 3.5 cm x 2.3 cm in dimension and would make for a fine addition to any collection of period Patch Boxes as well as an addition to a curio cabinet as a display piece.
The Patch Box dates to around circa 1800.
