Antique High Victorian period circa 1870 Wonderful example of a Vulcanite Mourning Pendant featured as a bacchanalian themed Clutch Of Grapes in three dimensional relief, Tear drop in shape with a beaded edge the pendant is secured to the crown with Original Triple Strung Necklace with white metal T-bar fitting, the necklace being made entirely of conjoined ringlets of superbly bench woven hair of the deceased, lacquered for strength and rigidity.
In overall very good condition for age, the hair neck chain being intact with only minor wear from handling and the vulcanite pendant being without damage albeit in need of a gentle clean it makes for a fine example of Mourning jewellery of the high Victorian period, certainly one for the curio cabinet as well as being quite wearable.
The Pendant measures 6.5 cm x 4.5 cm x 1.5 cm in dimension or 2.5 x 1.8 x 0.6 inches in dimension with the necklace measuring 64 cm or 25 inches in total length.

Weight : 44 grams or 1.5 Ounces.
