Twenty years ago I listened to old men with beards go on about this and seamed candlesticks used to make £350 now making a tenth of that.

I read an auction catalogue the other day an angle-poise lamp like I had a school in the 1970s estimated at £70 more than some period regency candlesticks.
But, there are so many items that have super saleable and commercial, so unless like our hard working Bob, your prepared to adapt and sell traditional stock and the new current price, you need to hunt out the items that are wanted and there are many.
Instagram is full of smart wealthy peoples homes rammed full of mirrors and prints and china, if one emulates these looks you will find the winning formulae carrying on with the same old stock with the same old attitude will not work, a fine period watering can may make hundreds but not a run of the mill look a like.
Well established dealers are showing you what is wanted open your eyes its there to be seen plain view. If people want orange pots I suggest you find orange pots and adapt as the business adapts.
