An early form of CV. or resume as American cousins would say or advertising of ones skills and talent as a future wife. Whilst not exclusively executed by girls, more often than not.
Effectively an exercise sheet with all ones talent and skill up for scrutiny. Samplers in silk show far more detail and skill and more intricate sewing skills such as people and houses and animals.
Silk as opposed to wool are more sought after, as are very young children often as young as 4 years olds, animals and figures houses and tree of life with Adam And Eve.
Basically the earlier and more detail the better.
