Etui
Yet another french word for an everyday item.
An etui is effectively a box for holding sewing tools, such as needles scissors etc, and as with all things can come in very lavish qualities as more often or not the possessions of ladies, etuies came in precious metals or gilt metal even rare products like ivory and tortoiseshell.
We don't sell any ivory anymore but often have etui of all shapes and forms and from £50 to £1000 range, one pictured is Georgian and in hand chased silver c1780.
