Chelsea, seems to full of antiques and vintage
When we say Chelsea whilst it is full of antiques, we mean Chelsea Flower Show, held by the RHS, in the grounds of Chelsea Hospital.
Most stands had old tin, ancient wooden fences antique planters and galvanized tubs, flaky paint. As well as statement items such as garden mirrors made from old window frames, tubs and stone carvings as well as metal and hand wrought items. Even an ancient c1950s rotavator, let alone a myriad of galvanized watering cans etc.
If the items were not old on the whole they were acid treated or patinated to make them look old and established. Whilst some fine garden antiques are fine antiques and almost fine art with thousands price tags much of this look can be reciprocated for really much better value out of vintage and antique.
Whilst some time a lichen covered bench may be more for aesthetics, a second hand bench will cost a quarter of the new price and last indefinitely if looked after and not left under a tree to rot out. Let alone an iron or similar one.
