A champagne tap?
This is what one of our younger website lister's called this, actually it is a port or claret tap. With a particularly nice serpent mouth on the tap.
It couldn't work for champagne as soon as you pierced cork it would pop. Its is designed to be screwed through the cork leaving cork intact, and through the sediment to the fine port or claret beyond the sediment held in the neck.
A great collectable and in the true spirit of good antiques completely usable today however possibly but not so good on metal screw caps.
