Antique duo of Souvenir, portrait display plates in fine china, released for the Coronation of King George V in the year circa 1911.
Good Condition for old age, no crazing or chips and no hairlines with the gilt finish to the rim of the plates being largely intact, the colours to the printed portraits of both king George and Queen Mary being still bright and clear (portraits signed for Copyright W&D Downey)
The plates are without makers marks but of no doubt English manufacture, one bearing an incised potters mark to the underside (please see last photograph)
Each plate measures 22.5 cm in diameter making for fantastic display pieces from a sadly lost, bygone age.
