Shield Watch Fob Pendant 9k Rose Gold Watch Chain Antique Edwardian English Chester 1915.
Dating from a time when every well dressed gentleman would dress for dinner hanging his pocket watch from his jacket or waistcoat with this type of chain. As well as being from the very collectable assay office of Chester, this is a fantastic antique 9ct rose gold albert watch chain with a moving pendant fob dating from the Edwardian era. Today many of these chains are worn as a necklace & this example is long enough to be worn this way.
To the rear of the pendant fob the gold mark is rubbed, you can still see the Chester assay office shield but the date letter cant be rear. The front shield of the fob is blank & could be inscribed with initials if required by your jeweller.
Approx 18.5 cm or 7.2 inches along the chain from the bolt ring end you find the English gold hallmark to the chain, again the Chester shield assay office as well as the date letter for the year 1915. The other links of the chain have a simpler gold mark.
To one end is a dog clip clasp, to the other a bolt ring clasp, both are secure with good springs. The pendant fob is attached to the chain by a ring which can be slid along the chain, good movement, to alter its position.
