Sheffield Plate Candle Snuffer Scissors Antique C.1830

A beautiful pair of quality candle snuffing scissors. Sheffield plate was invented in Sheffield, England in 1473 by rolling sterling silver and copper together and was used to create many household items at a lesser cost than solid sterling silver. It was fazed out in around 1840 by electroplating. This lovely snuffer also has a wick cutter which will have helped the candles burn more efficiently by keeping wicks neat and trim. Excellent antique condition and perfect working order. Many more nights of candle snuffing left in this fantastic piece.
