Russian Azurite Cross Pendant Antique c19th Century.

Dan Groucott

A wonderfully unusual Russian azurite cross. Azurite is a is a copper carbonate mineral and a soft stone, named for its deep “azure blue” color. This pendant is made up of five polished pieces of the beautiful stone and   dates from the 19th century. It is held together with copper wiring, and gives the effect of a cross. There is a nibble to one of the ends but is hardly visible from the front in our opinion.

Size 9.7 x 9.7 x 1.0 cm or 3.8 x 3.8 x 0.4 inches.

Weight 63.9 grams or 41.1 penny weight.
