Antique Late 18th Century Lovely Quality Sauce Boat/Jug in Sterling Silver by noted Silversmith William Sumner, a traditional styled piece featuring tricorne set stylized Cabriole legs finished with a scrolled arch handle and beaded lip, sporting a wide snub nose spout the sauce boat measures 13 cm x 7 cm and stands 6.8 cm tall and is engraved to the body on both sides with a set of initials 'IC', the underside to the sauce boat is impressed with good clear markings indicating London assay office circa 1784 with the makers mark 'WS' for William Sumner., this piece escaped the impression of the first year Duty mark for King George III.
