Antique Late Victorian Period Large Sized Match Box Cover in Sterling Silver detailed to the top with an intricate three dimensional Relief pictorial in Repousse featuring both Flora including scrolled branches and leaves so as to mimic a tree bough and fauna in the form of two Birds perched at the top looking down upon a central set cartouche engraved with a Monogram and crown as a crest.

In Overall good condition for age but with the tip of the nose to the green man head being worn through due to excessive polishing over the years the match box cover is still very much useable and of a heavy gauge measuring 7.5 cm x 6.3 cm x 2.8 cm in dimension, the side walls to the cover feature oval windows so as to reveal the striking strip of a matchbox where fitted, the underside to the matchbox cover is impressed with markings indicating London assay office circa 1892 with the makers mark for William Comyns & Sons of Beak Street, London.
