Fantastic detailing to the mourning hair set in the antique Victorian mourning brooch pin dating from a time when mourning jewellery was very popular in the 1860's. At this time Queen Victorian was plunged into deep mourning that would last for the rest of her long life at the death f her husband Prince Albert in 1861, & of course the rest of the country followed in the fashion of the Queen.
The gold has been tested as there are no gold marks. The black enamel is in good order see pictures. The mourning hair behind the lens is blonde & is set with 2 small seed pearls. The seed pearls have the meaning of tears for the lost loved one.
There is no inscription to the rear, it is blank. Good secure c clasp & pin.
Size 4.0 x 3.1 cm or 1.6 x 1.2 inches.
Weight 15.0 grams or 9.375 penny weight.
