Mourning Braided Hair 9k Gold Locket Back Ring Antique Georgian c1820.



Simply charming & very much of its time when mourning jewellery was worn usually containing a lock of hair of the lost loved one, this is a fantastic example dating from the late Georgian period.
The gold has been tested as there are no gold marks, there is a tiny stain on the gold to the side of the locket, see pictures. To the front of the ring is a locket lens, behind is braided brown hair, the hair can also be seen from the rear. The hair is in great condition see pictures, please note we have not opened the lens.
Size UK U+, US 5 or internal diameter 1.575 cm or 0.6 inches.
Size of head 1.2 x 1.4 cm or 0.5 x 0.6 inches.
Width of head rim approx 0.2 cm.
Weight 3.5 grams or 2.1 penny weight.
