A late 18th Century Mahogany fret top mirror with a carved and gilded Ho Ho bird and gilt detailing. The Ho ho bird comes from the mythical Japanese version of the Phoenix. Originally appearing as a motif in Asian decorative art, the Ho Ho bird was said to bring luck and symbolise good fortune. In good used condition, the back of the Ho Ho bird has been strengthened, see pictures. There's evidence of old woodworm to the back and has been treated, see pictures.
