Intaglio family crest motto sterling silver fob seal pendant antique Georgian c1790.
Motto: 'Non crux sed lux'.
Fantastic intaglio sterling silver family crest with motto to the base fob seal pendant from the Georgian period when King George III was the King of England.
The crest itself is unusual as to the top of the shield is a owl bird, see pictures with the motto in a banner to the base. The motto reads 'Non crux sed lux' which means 'Not the cross, but its light'. This motto is usually associated with the Black family however during my research I have found no association with the owl so this family identification is probably incorrect, if you know the family please do let us know.
The sterling silver has been tested as there are no silver marks. Great detailing to the seal see pictures.
