Simply stunning quality to this intaglio carnelian family crest seal dating from the late Georgian period. At this time fobs were often hung from a gentleman's watch chain to enable the owner to secure documents securely in melted wax with their personal mark. The crest includes an angel in an Irish lyre musical instrument to the top and a shield with a stars and a boat to the left and a man to the right. The seal is in good order as is the carnelian stone please see the pictures. The stone is in a sterling silver gilt fob or pendant, there are no metal marks, but again the detailing is stunning please see the pictures. May require an additional bale to hang. A simply wonderful antique intaglio seal.
