Fantastic pair of hallmarked 9ct yellow gold gentleman's cufflinks dating from the Edwardian era, a time of stiff upper lip & a time when one had to dress correctly no matter what.
The gold hallmark can be found to the rear of the cuffs, the full hallmark has been hidden behind the star fixing, the '9 .375' mark can be seen however. There is also a makers mark 'JA&S' for the maker J Aitkin & Son of Spencer Street, Birmingham. This maker was working with this mark between the years 1903-1918 & this is what we are using to date the cufflinks.
Charming engraving to all 4 cuff fronts see pictures, there are very minor surface scratches, all wear as you would expect of an item of jewellery of this age that has been used.
Size of cuffs 2.2 x 1.0 cm or 0.9 x 0.4 inches.
Length of links 1.4 cm or 0.5 inches.
Total weight 3.2 grams or 2 penny weight.
