Entwined Snake 9k Gold Cased Fob Pendant Carnelian Seal Antique Georgian c1820.
Usually found attached to the end of a gentleman's watch chain but today hung as a pendant from a chain necklace or as a charm from a bracelet, this is a fantastic fob pendant with an entwined snake to the shoulders dating from the Regency period c1820. The snake has the meaning of love, wisdom & eternity in jewellery & reached its peak of popularity during the 1840's.
The fob is made from 9ct yellow gold cased, this means solid real 9ct gold, not plate, over another metal in this case probably brass, there is very slight wear to the high points please see the pictures. To the top there is a small hole, this is visible in the pictures. The carnelian seal to the base is blank, there are tiny nibbles to the edges, again please see pictures, as it is blank it could be inscribed with your initials or a family crest. Fantastic entwined snake to the shoulders.
