Dating from a time when mourning jewellery was popular due to often loss of loved ones, this is an unusual double inscription to a husband and wife mourning brooch or pin dating from the early Victorian period. The gold has been tested as there are no marks. Good secure clasp and pin. The enamel and black onyx stone to the centre are in good order. The inscription reads "Mary Lowe died June 22 1819 aged 58 George Lowe died Dec 28 1841 aged 73". Simply wonderful mourning brooch.
