Fantastic 9ct rose gold albert watch chain in a curb link with a double flip spinning pendant fob dating from the Edwardian era & with good crisp English gold hallmarks. During this time a watch chain was the must have item for every well dress gentleman, today some of these good quality wide chains are converted into chain necklaces & this watch chain is just long enough to be converted if you wished as it fits around my neck.
There are various gold marks to this watch chain, all the links are marked '9 .375', with the last link being marked with the anchor mark for the Birmingham assay office along with the date letter 'p' for 1914. The T bar pendant is also marked '9 .375' along with the anchor mark but there is no date letter, but you do find a makers mark 'DB'. The dog clip clasp has the same makers mark along with the same simple gold mark, no assay office mark. The flip fob has a full hallmark, again the anchor mark for Birmingham but the date letter 'k' for 1909, the maker being 'TJS' for Thomas James Skelton of Vyse Street, Birmingham. Please note the hallmark to the side of the fob is rubbed, but the marks to the chain, dog clip & T bar are clear.
The flip pendant fob contains to the one side a bloodstone to the other a carnelian stone, both are of a great colour & in good order. Good chain link to the shoulders of the fob & good movement when flipped or spun. The dog clip clasp the other end is secure with a good spring to open & close, great graduation to the chain see pictures.
