Traditionally used by a gentleman to hang his pocket watch from his jacket or waistcoat, this is a great antique double Albert watch chain with a 9ct yellow gold shield fob or pendant dating from the late Edwardian era. Often today these types of chain are worn as a necklace. There are a few English hallmarks or silver marks, the fob is marked Birmingham assay and for the year 1923, the chain itself on the connecting ring in the middle again Birmingham assay with the date letter for the year 1918, the simple silver lion mark can be seen to the links of the chain. The T bar and dog clips are also marked. To each end is a dog clip clasp, both are secure with good spring. Blank gold shield in the centre of the buckle border to the fob, the rear is not inscribed. A wonderful quality antique silver watch chain.
