The parasol is formed of wooden handle with an umbrella mechanism inside ( fully working ) As the inner loop is slid up the stem of the handle, a sprung metal holder eventually pops out to hold the dome of the parasol in place. The dome is formed of rice paper and decorated in a Chinese style design. The parasol is designed primarily as decorative or fashion items but can also be used to provide shade from the sun. They should not be used in wet weather under any circumstances. This parasol is offered in good overall condition although it does have some damages to the dome ( please see pictures )
