A lovely bronze Chinese jue jug. A jue is a type of Chinese ritual bronze, a tripod vessel or goblet used to serve warm wine. It was used for ceremonial purposes by the Chinese of the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties. Often the jue had a handle sometimes shaped like a dragon but not always. The two protuberances either side of the spout are thought to be used to lift the jue out of the fire. This piece has a wonderful patina. It makes an interesting ornament or perhaps a great pen holder upon a desk for a more practical use.

Size 16 x 13.5 x 7.5 cm or 6.3 x 5.3 x 3.0 inches.

Weight 478.0 grams or 307.0 penny weight.
