Cherub Lava Cameo Grand Tour 18k Gold Frame Brooch Pin or Pendant Antique Georgian c1820.
Simply delightful antique lava cameo in a high relief of a cherub angel dating from the late Georgian period in a later 18ct yellow gold frame. During this period the wealthy would travel around Europe on their 'Grand Tour' & would bring home mementoes such as these lava cameo's.
The detailing to the cherub is fantastic please see the pictures. It is generally in great order except for a tiny nibble to the rear of the left as you look at the front wing, this can not be seen from the front but only when you look down from the top & the folds of the cloth. Both do not detract from the overall look of the brooch.
The Georgian cameo is set in a later 18ct yellow gold frame which is hallmarked to the rear, London assay office with the date letter for the year 1994. Good secure clasp & pin. It could also be worn as a pendant as there is a bale that folds up.
