Carved Guatemalan Monkey Dance Mask Vintage.

This small hand carved and painted vintage mask of a gentleman is most probably a Guatemalan dance mask and very likely to have been used by a monkey. The local Mico monkeys have long been incorporated into the traditional dance ceremonies and were regularly given their own masks to wear. The closeness of the eyes, the three string retention holes and its close association with other known examples make the authenticity very plausible. As such some of these masks can be very valuable and in the least fascinating.
