Stunning cannetille large cross pendant in pinchbeck dating from the early Victorian period c1840.
Pinchbeck was created by Christopher Pinchbeck to resemble gold, during the time of highway robberies the wealthy copied their priceless jewellery enabling them to wear, or appear to wear, their stunning jewellery while touring the country estates during their summer progress without the risk of actually loosing them. Today pinchbeck has become a collectable metal in its own right.
There are no metal marks. Great detailing see pictures, but there is a tiny piece missing on the 5th circle up on the base section of the cross, see pictures.
