Augustin Edourt Styled Portrait Silhouette Of Napoleon Antique Victorian c1890
Augustin Edourt Styled Portrait Silhouette Of Napoleon Antique Victorian c1890. A beautiful Edourt styled silhouette piece being superbly prooduced and held within a stylish period black and gold beaded frame. Augustin Edouart was the most prolific silhouette artist of his day. Born in Dunkirk, he served in the Napoleonic Wars and came to England in 1814. Edouart travelled around the country extensively and spent three years in Edinburgh, cutting the silhouettes of nearly every man and woman who had even the slightest claim to fame. A wonderful tribute to his work which looks superb when displayed. There is some loss to the frame but this is minimal and does little to detract from the piece when on display.
