Ammolite & Diamond 14k White Gold Ring Vintage English Hallmark.

Stunning colours which change in the light from greens through to yellow & orange within the ammolite to the centre of this 14k white gold ring dating from the 1980's.
Ammolite is an opal-like organic gemstone found primarily along the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains of North America & is made of the fossilized shells of ammonites. In 1981, ammolite was given official gemstone status by the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO), the same year commercial mining of ammolite began.
The inside of the ring shank is marked '14k' to the one side, the other marked with the anchor for the Birmingham assay office but there is no date letter. The makers mark reads 'IW'. Either side of the ammolite are small real diamonds which have been tested, both present & in good order. As mentioned above stunning colours to the ammolite, the pictures really dont give it justice.
