Full of hidden meanings, this is a charming fantastic antique 9ct yellow gold brooch pin dating from the late Victorian period set to the centre with an amethyst heart. To the shoulders are forget me not flowers & ivy leaves.
Amethyst is a semi precious stone often used in jewelry and is the traditional birthstone for the month of February as well as the zodiac star sign Aquarius. Also known as the Bishop's Stone and is still worn by Catholic Bishops today. The stone symbolizes piety, humility, sincerity & spiritual wisdom.
The forget me not flower has the meaning of true love, faithfulness & remembrance, with the ivy leaves meaning fidelity, wedded Love, affection, & friendship.
The gold mark can be found to the rear, this mark reads '9 .375' for 9ct gold as well as the makers mark which reads 'A&C'. Good secure c clasp & pin.
