9k Gold Double Albert Watch Chain Necklace 41.5cm / 16.3" Antique Victorian English 1888.
During the Victorian period every well dressed gentleman would hang his pocket watch using this type of chain from his jacket or waistcoat, today they are worn a chunky chain necklaces. This is a fantastic quality double albert watch chain with English hallmarks dating it to the Victorian era in 9ct yellow gold with a central T bar pendant & a small chain to hang a pendant fob from.
Most of the links of the chain are marked for 9ct gold as well as the T bar, both dog clips & the bolt ring clasp. The full hallmark can be found to the link that connects all elements, this is where you see an anchor for the Birmingham assay office along with the date letter for the year 1888. The dog clips, T bar & a long link of the chain also have the makers mark 'JG&S' for John Grinsell & Sons.
To each end of the chain is a dog clip clasp, both are secure with good springs. To the centre is a T bar pendant fob attached with a small chain, along with another small chain with a bolt ring clasp to the end to hang a watch fob from. The bolt ring is secure with a good spring.
This watch chain is long enough to be worn as a necklace.
