9ct Yellow Gold Shell Cameo Of An Angel Vintage 1985 English.

Isle Temple

A lovely shell cameo of an angel with an anchor at her feet set in 9ct yellow gold. The anchor symbolizes the angels hope and was popular because of its resemblance to the cross. The anchor also symbolizes strength and steadfastness and the angel represents hope, devotion, faith, trust and love. Both ancient and powerful images. The cameo is nicely carved and can be worn as a brooch or a pendant, the bail folds down out of sight when it is to be worn as a brooch which is a nice touch. It has full hallmarks for 9ct, Birmingham and the date letter for 1985. There's also a maker's mark GM. On the reverse of the cameo there's some writing scratched into the shell, this is faint. It doesn't cast any shadows and can't be seen from the front.

Size 5.4 x 4.0 x 0.8 cm or 2.1 x 1.6 x 0.3 inches.
