Antique High Victorian period circa 1870 Very ornate Sterling Silver Mounted Chatelaine Multi-Tool Sewing Aide with steel tool fittings, the Silver mounted body to the tool being Rose Flower Repousse Detailed to both sides in an open gallery panel.

Featuring a series of fold out sewing aides including a fabric punch, button hook, scissors and a cutting blade, these were popular with Nannies employed by wealthy households even up until the turn of the 20th Century, serving so as to make on the spot repairs to minded Children's clothes as they play or otherwise when out and about as well as a personal sewing aide, usually accompanied by a 'Nanny pin' which traditionally held needle and thread.

This Striking example weighs 40.8 grams or 1.31 Ounces Troy and when closed measures 6 cm in length and when open with fittings extended it measures 10.3 cm in length,

There are no visible assay markings to the silver but it has been tested by our team here at TBT for Sterling Silver to the body, as noted the fittings are in steel.

The terminal to one end of the Chatelaine features a hinged bale and lug so as to serve for when wearing the item as an accompaniment to a Chatelaine belt or as a fob item on a long guard or similar.

In Very good Antique condition save for a small area of damage to the tip of the steel blade
