Cockerel Rooster Bird 18k Gold Pendant Charm Vintage Art Deco c1920.
The connection with the rooster as symbol of France may quite simply stem from the similarity of the Latin words for cock (gallus) and inhabitant of Gaul (gallicus), now known as France. This play on words was known in Roman times, when many Gauls used roosters to symbolize their loyalty to Gaul.
It is of a great size meaning it could be hung as a charm from a bracelet as well as a pendant from a chain necklace. The gold has been tested as there are no gold marks. There is a small file mark to the neck on the one side, but in my opinion this does not detract, good detailing to both sides, please see the pictures.
