A Stunning Lacquered Papier Mache Sewing Box. This Antique Victorian domed top box has been manufactured by Jennens and Bettridge c1850. They were appointed to King George IV, William IV and Prince Albert and highly regarded for manufacturing papier-mache ware. This sewing box has a beautifully detailed Image of a harbour scene with with a bird and fish bowl on the front. There's some wear to the lacquer and the hinges have been repaired, see pictures. Inside. There's a hidden compartment in the top and inside there are some compartments with mother of pearl handles in the form of little flowers and sewing tools. No key. The manufacturer's mark is impressed into the base, see pictures.
